Fernando Ortega

Musician, Singer & Songwriter
Fernando Ortega is a gifted musician, singer, and songwriter, who grew up in New Mexico near the Rio Grande. Fernando’s approach to music breaks traditional boundaries of to include elements of folk, classical, Celtic, Latin American, world, and rustic hymnody. These roots are made possible both by his heritage and his formal training at The University of New Mexico. Fernando’s current role is the Director of Worship at Hope Evangelical Free Church in Albuquerque. His music reflects this journey adeptly as it is tinged with a personality of both freedom and liturgy, and the unique expanse between them. But one thing is certain – when you hear Fernando Ortega sing and play the music of his heart, you will be deeply moved. Fernando and his wife have a daughter.

John Cortines

Co-Author, God and Money, COO at Generous Giving
John works to reach a new generation with biblical generosity through our Emerging Leaders initiatives. A native of Texas, John began his career as a Petroleum Engineer, spending time everywhere from the sand dunes of Saudi Arabia, to the offshore platforms of the Gulf of Mexico. While studying at Harvard Business School, John began a journey of discovery on the intersection of faith and wealth which culminated in a decision to leave behind a lucrative post-MBA job to work, speak, and write full-time on generosity (his book God and Money, co-authored with Greg Baumer, is out now).

Once content to live simply, give some, and save aggressively to attain personal security, he now sees active giving—sharing resources joyfully and generously—as central to a way of life that serves God. John lives in Florida with his beautiful and gracious wife, Megan, and their two children.

Greg Baumer

Co-Author, God and Money, VP at naviHEALTH, Inc.
A native of Indianapolis, he went on to earn his BS in finance, business economics, and public policy from Indiana University in 2008. After earning his MBA from Harvard Business School in 2015, Greg joined Nashville-based healthcare technology startup naviHealth as vice president of product development and innovation.

It was while taking a Harvard Divinity School course called God & Money that he came to the startling conclusion that Christians are called to a radical level of generosity. Greg now hopes to experience the incredible joy and satisfaction that comes only through generously serving God with his wealth. Greg is blessed to be married to his beautiful, loving, and gracious wife of six years, Alison, and are parents to a happy, outgoing toddler, Grant.
